Updated Custom Module Guide

We released Reamaze Custom Module a while back as a way for you to extend your back office needs (functions that Reamaze does not provide) into your Reamaze dashboard. This essentially offers you limitless freedom as to what you want to show inside a customer conversation. See here: http://bit.ly/1pZ16xi. Fast forward to today, the custom module can now act on information about which conversation it’s showing on so you can render your custom module based on the conversation rather than purely based on the user.

Let’s go through some examples.

Example 1

1. Alpha Corp uses Reamaze to collect feedback from customers. One of the custom form fields deployed in the Reamaze Shoutbox asks the customer “How happy are you?” through a dropdown menu.

2. Alpha Corp wants to give their agents the ability make customers happy if they see a “Sad” user response. Because the custom module now knows which conversation is showing a “Sad” response, they can now build a custom module to show a “Send T-Shirt” button! If Acme Corp only had information about the user, and not the conversation, they would not be able to build the custom module that way.

Example 2

1. Beta Corp uses Reamaze to collect user support messages. One of the custom form fields asks “When would you like to schedule a demo?”, and it asks to user to input a time.

2. Beta Corp uses the custom module so an agent can access Google Calendar to show their availability availability. The custom module is only able to do this if it had information on the conversation and not just the user.

Example 3

1. Charlie Corp is an ecommerce shop and has deployed the Reamaze widget to ask customers what product they’re inquiring about.

2. Because the custom module now knows which conversation and which product the customer has written in about, they can now build a custom module to display available stock.

Does this make sense? Isn’t it cool? Give it a try! Here’s a snapshot of the updated documentation found here: https://www.reamaze.com/developer/module
